“But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in yourselves.” John 5:42 (NASB)
To attain righteousness which would allow man to enter the Celestial City of God, man must love God supremely, and then he must love his neighbor as he loves himself. Such love is utterly impossible apart from the miracle of God’s grace, and the miracle of God’s grace is utterly impossible apart from Christ’s atonement. Ungodly men are wanting in such love as God’s law and God’s holiness demand, because unregenerate men have not the love of God in them.
Islam’s Beautiful Witness to America: Malcolm X
This Saturday marked fifty years since El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, better known as Malcolm X, was gunned down in Manhattan’s Audubon Ballroom. A few celebrations took place to remember his legacy, but the day garnered little attention. His daughter, Ilyasah Shabazz, worried aloud that history might forget him. I am not sure there is a substantive national memory in place that could be lost, unfortunately.
I want to offer a few informal thoughts on the man and why a white, Christian theologian-in-training finds him important enough to write about half a century after his assassination.
I.
It is one thing to slip from historical memory, but it is another to be remembered wrongly. That is the fate of Malcolm X.
Since before I can recall, I have always loved Dr. King. You can guess how I felt about Malcolm, then, of whom my education led me to…

A Woman of Faith
If the topic of faith in God offends you, perhaps you might want to sit this post out. I hope you will endure. It is not that I have anything profound to say, it is just something I want to say.
On my “About” page, I describe myself in many ways-wife, mother, crafter, etc…and a woman of faith. I started thinking-what does this actually mean to me? Like most people I have faith that the sun will come up tomorrow, that I will get in my car and most likely make it from point A to point B, and in general that things I know to be true will likely remain that way.
This might be where we part company (although I hope not). I believe in God, in Jesus, the Bible-yep the whole nine yards.
So what does a woman of faith mean to me? It means that I try…

Samuel 9-10: The Blandest Leading Man
Previous, Israel had received dire warnings about the perils of Kingship, and blissfully ignored them. Ok, moving on.
We’re introduced to a man named Saul, who is “the handsomest man in Israel.” Sam 9:2. I was hoping that maybe he’d have some better qualifications for being (probably) the potential king. I mean, being a hottie is great for scoring with the ladies, but foreign statesmen aren’t usually that impressed with ample cleavage, or how much you can bench. You need to be charismatic, intelligent, diplomatic, crafty… You… you can’t just be hawt. Oh, also, his qualifications for being hot are that he’s head and shoulders taller than everyone else. Now, I like strapping men as much as the next gal, but… well. Have you ever heard of a butterface? Yeah. Right, back to the story.
One day, Saul gets sent on a quest to find his dad’s missing donkeys. How… noble? He…

Is Atheism a Religion?
Yes it is. The funny thing is the fact that it is based on the Bible.
Man Without God
I am reminded of “Solo”mon in this article.
Throughout the history of Man people have tried to outsmart God. This shouldn’t be a shock to anyone for the history of Man is the history of rebellion against God.
You hear this all the time when you see governments trying to silence the Gospel, when you hear scientists trying to explain it away or when you hear of courts trying to rule God out of the public square. We can see this when watch Hollywood productions that marginalize God and His people, when we study the religions of men and how they try to change the inconvenient facts about God, or when they seek to replace the true God with characters devised by men… Some of these things can seem persuasive at first, and then you think about it… In the end they don’t ring true; they bring about more questions than they could ever answer and as a…

Fire and Fragrance
God can be seen in someone life when they are in the midst of trail.
Daily Prompt: In Good Faith
FIRE AND FRAGRANCE
© 2013 Diana Rasmussen
Wounds and scars, leftovers of pain
will they stop me from trying again?
Can I spend my pain like cash?
Letting good come of my suffering
*
I uncover my wounds in God’s presence
my offering of fire and fragrance
His healing – poured out oil
on the altar of His love
*
Was this meant for me alone?
leaning on the Cornerstone
or do I share my deepest pains
to ease you in your suffering?
GOD’S PROMISE TO YOU:
Faith in What We Don’t See
The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t…

A Ship At Sea
Its so easy to get discouraged today.
A ship at sea
Standing alone
Proud to fight
Whispers of water
Touch the base
Nothing left untouched
Leaving no space
I see my shadow
Follow the path of sail
I see my soul
Cry out and wail
Oh please let me
Be strong when alone
Let someone see
Where I have shone
For I was not put
Here to crumble you know
I was but a seed
Intended to grow
I turn a way from
The picture I see
And pray to God
I accept what you want me to be.

Which Bible Version is the Best?
Honestly I believe the Bible version one chooses to read should be left to your personal convictions. I am happy and thrilled for anyone you has a life where they read the Bible daily. Why should not beat these people up just because they are reading a different version.
God Bless

Why kids’ prayers work
So cute
I don’t know about you but I find it so irresistibly cute to see and hear young children pray.
Is it their sweet tiny voices? Or their chubby little fingers clasped very tightly that make everything oh sooo adorable. Sure, yes. But for me, what’s more fascinating is the sight of a child putting his or her complete trust in the super powers of Jesus Christ. No doubts, no worries. Just pure, unadulterated, 100% child-like faith (I must admit. We, adults, are sometimes child-ish!).
My son, Zach, thinks Jesus has bionic eyes. To him, Jesus is a superhero.
Let me share a story with you. One time, one of the letters in Zach’s alphabet clay mold set went missing (those of you who know Zach are aware of his love affair with the alphabet!). I was carefully observing what he is going to do next. Will he panic? Will…
